Ma Bien-aimée:
...Someone stated that: ‘Il n’est jamais trop tard pour bien faire’ meaning it is never too late to do a good deed. In that sense, I honestly think your e-mail was the best I have ever read from anyone. After our conversation yesterday, I thought that we were able to come up with fairly a good understanding of the little storm between us. Yet, I had to read this late e-mail to understand really how much you mean to me. I love you and now I have the assurance that if my beloved lady would happen to hurt me by inadvertence, she would have the courage to let me know that such human error was not intentional.
La Rochefoucault, a French writer, said that: ‘La honte est dans l’offense et non dans l’excuse.’ I believe it is true, and such a gesture on your part is powerful enough to bring my heart, already your prisoner, to your feet in a vow to be at your command forever!
