1. Central Focus

a. Describe the central focus and purpose of the content you will teach in the learning segment.

[The central focus of these series of lessons is to have students consider the interconnectedness of the themes using figurative and descriptive language in literature and to use this understanding to support original ideas through task specific writing assignments. Other goals are to encourage students to develop their communication proficiency included in the standards. Finally, they will gain knowledge and understanding of the role of women in other cultures.

In a scaffolding series, students learn to analyze and explain how the authors describe the women’s oppression and injustice in society. As the lessons reach their climax, the teaching segments serve as a guide to help the students take into consideration their personal view of the role of the women in society. Should they sympathize or oppose to the treatment of women is a personal choice worth a class debate. However, their interpretation should reveal if they understand the message conveyed by the author (s).]

In developing my lesson and in an effort to incorporate videos,

I use one video segment submitted with the current lesson under the

(How did the role of the woman in society has changed from the different

movements of the civil rights?).

The video is a sixteen-minute video clip where the interaction in the

This analysis has for purpose to help my students to form their own opinion

after understanding the oppression that women were subjected during

that period of time in the Hispanic society...
