Teachers: Silent lambs on the political altar!

With the ever increasing danger of recession, panic is all over. Large schools are dismantled and replaced by small ones. Efficient staff developers are quasi nonexistent. Qualified mentor-teachers in excess are assigned to inexperienced, chaotic new small schools where they are known with the pejorative appellation of ATR’s (The Absent Teacher Reserve Pool). Dedicated, responsible guidance counselors are sitting in new small school cafeterias reading their newspapers. Effective and charismatic, assistant principals with integrity and dignity are turned into coverage teachers for unqualified, non-educational accredited principals. These examples are only a few of the many infractions and disgraces that the business world invading the school system has brought under its wings....

More than thirty years have flowed away since for the first time I leaned over a piece of paper or rather I used a small and insignificant notebook to write my first poem.  The inexperience, the immaturity, and especially the anxiety were at the rendezvous. 

I felt things that I could not express since in my young and feverish mind, I believed that a poet should be able to versify. I wrongly believed that being able to versify was the only way for someone to be connected to his or her Muse. I thought wrongly that to experience the wonders of poetry, the cadence or the pulse of a poem, versification was the only key...
This is Compilations of Youth!

While working on HOW I AM DOING IN YOUR GRADE BOOK: TEACHERS' EXPERIENCES, I am revising my early and more recent poems for publication.

Compilations OF Youth will be published primary in both languages: French and English.

At the end or close to the end of this publication, the hope is to finalize

Besides my own experience as a teacher, I am hoping to collect as much from my colleagues who have suffered from unjust treatments.

Excerpts from Compilations Of Youth

Prenez-moi pour ce que je suis et non pour ce que vous voudriez que je sois. Regardez-moi avec des yeux de compassion et non avec ceux de convoitise car au fond de mon âme je souffre plus que n’importe quel être sur la terre.

Offrez-moi un cœur, plutôt qu’une pépite d’or. Touchez-moi tendrement que de me dire : je vous aime. Souriez-moi gentiment que de me faire des promesses d’amitié. Ces petites choses sont pour moi les preuves les plus tangibles de cette fleur fragile et universelle qu’est l’Amour…….

Take me for what I am and not for what you would want me to be! 

Look at me through the  eyes of compassion and not with those of lust and envy;

Because deeper in my soul, I suffer more than any other human being.

Offer me a heart rather than a golden nugget. 

Touch me gently than telling me you love me.

Offer me a kind smile than false promises of friendship. 

These small things are for me the real proofs

Of the fragile and universal flower that is Love….. 

Please forgive!

 I thought it would be easy for me to express my hurt, my suspicions

 And I would be able to recover some sort of serenity and peace.

I thought it would be OK to tell you how I feel

And with that I would be able to find the inner peace

That you wish so much for me.

Yet, I did not count on hurting you.

I did not count on bringing tears to your angelic eyes

And 'amertume' (deep sorrow or bitterness) in your heart…..
